Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was made the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell reported on a variety of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and the arms control. Mitchell travelled together with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss topics including the Iran Contra scandal.
